Piper’s Growing Up

Our sweet Piper is entering a whole new stage of life: she’s growing up.

As she’s moved into maturity, we began noticing some changes in her behavior. Like many young mares going through puberty, Piper started experiencing hormonal shifts that left her feeling uncomfortable, reactive, and at times… a little less like her easygoing self.

Understanding the “Why”

When mares go into heat cycles, fluctuating hormones can affect everything from mood to behavior. For Piper, it meant moments of irritability and sensitivity that we knew weren’t truly “her”—just her body adjusting to big internal changes.

So, we worked closely with our trusted veterinarian, Dr. Metcalf, to find a solution that would help her feel more balanced and comfortable.

A Gentle, Common Solution

To support Piper through this transition, she received a progesterone implant in her neck—a commonly used and trusted option to help regulate hormones in mares.

It’s a safe, effective way to take the edge off intense hormonal swings, helping Piper feel more like herself again.

A Noticeable Difference

Within just two weeks, Piper began to settle. She’s more relaxed, more comfortable, and much more like the sweet girl we know and love!
